The Archmage Forgot to Turn Off the Stream · Chapter 1
Episode 1. Your Mic Is Still On
For someone who had already saved the world at least three times, Eun-ha's morning began in a deeply undignified way. The hem of her black robe dragged over the wet tile by the front door, and in place of a ceremonial staff she was carrying a convenience-store bag. Inside were two triangle rice balls, a banana milk, and a bag of onion rings she had grabbed only because they were on sale.
The moment she locked the door behind her, she dropped to the floor. 5:30 a.m. She had spent three hours sealing a fracture beneath the subway line, then sprinted straight to the nearest convenience store before the adrenaline faded. Her heartbeat still had not returned from combat mode.
"That was brutal."
She muttered it out of habit and pulled her phone from a pocket inside the robe. In the center of the screen, a small red dot was still blinking.
LIVE 12.4K
Eun-ha blinked three times. Her brain needed several extra seconds to interpret what she was seeing. When it finally did, the onion rings fell from her hand.
"Wait."
The chat had already become a flood.
— your stream is still on
— what was that special effect earlier??
— i thought this was a fake dungeon concept stream why is the convenience store part so real
— an archmage eating onion rings is exactly what i needed tonight
The plan had been simple. Keep a soft city-night stream running as camouflage. On nights like this, the signal sometimes made tracking monsters mistake her position for ordinary urban noise. The problem was that she had been too tired to hit END STREAM before tearing into dinner.
She moved to cover the camera, then stopped. Too late. The audience had already seen everything: the dust on her boots, the broom-shaped staff leaning by the wall, the sigil bag dropped beside the shoe cabinet, the faint scorch marks on the sleeve of her robe.
"Everyone, this is... cosplay."
The chat only sped up.
— full costume at 6am while eating onion rings?? legendary
— what was that spark when you locked the door
— where is the manager this stream is incredible
Eun-ha slowly lifted her head. Near the ceiling, a tiny fire spirit that had followed her home was still circling in place. It, too, was perfectly visible in the corner of the frame.
"Oh no."
The spirit waved a little ember hand at the camera.
Her subscriber count jumped from 12.4K to 12.8K.
Eun-ha had faced extinction-tier monsters with steadier nerves than this. Dungeon bosses had rules. Seal arrays could be calculated. Chat, however, had no pattern at all.
She raised the phone and placed a thumb over the END STREAM button. Then a new donation banner slid across the top of the screen and stopped her cold.
[50,000 KRW] if this is magic can we get a healing buff demo next time
Slowly, very slowly, Eun-ha lowered her hand.
Saving the world did not pay.
Streaming, apparently, just might.
